It can help detect cancer at an early stage, even before symptoms can appear. When a cancer is diagnosed early, it will be easier to cure it. It does not necessarily mean that one has cancer when a physician encourages a cancer screening test. Even when one does not have symptoms for cancer, it is best to be safe and be tested.

According to www.cancer.gov, there are different kinds of screening tests.

Screening tests include the following:

Physical exam and history: An exam of the body to check general signs of health, including checking for signs of disease, such as lumps or anything else that seems unusual. A history of the patient’s health habits and past illnesses and treatments will also be taken.
Laboratory tests: Medical procedures that test samples of tissue, blood, urine, or other substances in the body. Imaging procedures: Procedures that make pictures of areas inside the body.
Genetic tests: Tests that look for certain gene mutations (changes) that are linked to some types of cancer.

It is always safer to know early about our body's health condition so we can prepare for future contingencies and also motivate us to live a healthy life. Being health-conscious is not a loss, it is a must. Encourage someone you love to be screened today.
